Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

Here’s the rest of the story…

Marty Bischoff became a certified public accountant in 1977. A native of Germany and graduate of the Free University of Berlin, Marty immigrated to the US in 1970 and opened her sole proprietorship in Houston in 1978.

The years from 1995 to 2002 were spent in semi-retirement. Traveling by sailboat (hey, that’s what the logo is all about!!) along the East Coast of the US and in the Caribbean, Marty eventually settled in the mountains of Guatemala, Central America, for over 4 years.

Meanwhile, throughout her years of travel, Marty returned to the US faithfully every tax season to work for different large and mid-sized CPA firms in Houston and Florida. This provided her a much-needed boost of civilization while affording her the opportunity to accumulate a valuable storehouse of knowledge, gleaned from other firms’ procedures and approaches. Additionally, Marty built up an accounting practice in Antigua, Guatemala, servicing the US expatriate community and the US based not-for-profit organizations helping the poor people of Central America.

After living through more adventures than she had bargained for, Marty returned – now tri-lingual – in 2002 to the place she calls “home”. Since then she has passed her certification as a Quickbooks Advisor.

You can reach Marty at 713-831-6887 (office); 281-728-0789 (cell); 713-644-4643 (fax); or at marty_b_cpa@yahoo.com. Marty’s office is located at 3730 Kirby Drive #1200, near the corner of Kirby and Richmond, just off I-59 – here is a link to the map.
